Create a read point

The next and final step is to create a read point in Nedap Harmony. Go to 'Read Points', and select 'Add new Read Point'. Enter the name of the read point.

Now you need to select the reader for this read point. First you need to associate a reader with your workspace. To do that, select 'Associate new reader...'. Enter the Serial Number and the MAC address of the reader. Finish the process by selecting 'Associate'.

🚧

MAC Address

Enter the MAC address in all-caps, so AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF instead of aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff.

Reader not found?

If the reader cannot be found:

  1. Double-check whether you entered serial number and MAC address correctly.
  2. Make sure the reader has access to the Nedap Harmony Cloud application. Is port 443 opened? Check the LED on the reader as specified in the reader-specific documentation for connection status.

Now the reader should be available in the drop-down menu. Select 'Save' to create the new read point.

Check observations

To validate that the reader is working properly, select 'Observations' in the row of your read point. Put an RFID label on the reader, and you should see the observations flowing in.

Check actions

Now you also should be able to see reader actions. Actions like EPCs arriving and leaving from the field. You can do this by selecting 'Log' in the Read Point overview. Try removing the tag for more than five seconds, and putting it back again. This should result in actions.
